Here at connectingbusiness.com we realise that not everyone will want a top-of-the-range Smartphone, so we also stock a great selection of more basic mobile phones.
Firstly though, lets set things straight. A basic mobile can do a lot for you, you can still get email and MP3 players if you want them, and there are other features available too. Most basic phones still have cameras and can send MMS messages. Lets look at the pros and cons to see if they fit your needs.
The first and most obvious pro point is the price. With the basic range starting from under £30 they are very affordable, so you don't have to worry about breaking the bank.
They're easier to navigate. A Smartphone is all very good, but how does it work? If you prefer your mobile phone to have a simple menu that doesn't require a degree in mobile technology to understand, then the basic mobile is for you
A better signal and battery experience. Most Smartphones have lots of in-built antennas for different things, including 2G, 3G, GPS and WiFi. These antennas all packed into a small space can have an effect on the signal strength on the handset. As the more basic handsets only usually have the one antenna for 2G network, the signal strength tends to be better and more reliable. Also the battery doesn't have to work nearly as hard so tends to last longer before it needs charging, in some cases, up to a few weeks!
There isn't much (if any) internal memory, but this doesn't necessarily have to be a big problem. Memory is only needed if you want to store music, apps, documents, pictures etc, if all you want your mobile for is making and receiving calls and the odd text, it's not an issue.
There are fewer features in-built. The really basic mobiles have an organiser and voice memo, and that's about it! But if you go up the scale a little, then you can have Bluetooth, MP3 & MP4 players, a camera and email as well.
A slower browsing experience. There are some low-end mobiles that have in-built internet WAP browsers. This sounds great but in reality they can be quite slow when running on the 2G network.
