With the use of Smartphones and other data hungry devices and tablets constantly on the rise, the old question of "Do I need mobile data?" has now become "How much data do I need?"
This is not the easiest question to answer, and although we can give you a rough data guide, see below, we can only give estimates.
Things like browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, downloading music & apps and even in-app activities use up data. We estimate that for 500MB, you should be able to do one of the following (or a mixture of them all).
If difficult to say exactly how much data will be used because all emails and web pages vary in size and content, likewise songs are different lengths and email attachments could be anything from a few KB in size to several MB.
The best way to save the amount of mobile data you use (aside from switching your phone off!) is to log on to your home or office Wi-Fi network. Most Smartphones will remember the Wi-Fi settings so whenever you're in the area, you'll automatically be using Wi-Fi rather than the network's 3G signal.
If you want to use your phone all the time at home or at work, it might just be worth checking with your broadband service provider to make sure that you have enough data to cover you.
It's very easy to forget that you're even using data in some cases. Checking Facebook and Twitter will both use data to load new updates and tweets. Even using your weather app will use a small amount of data.
