We know that business mobile tariffs can be difficult to understand, hopefully this guide will help you decide what's best, and why you should choose one over a consumer tariff.
A mobile tariff that is specifically tailored for business customers. Quite often certain aspects of the tariff can be changed to fit the individual business. These tariffs are not available to consumer customers
The majority of business tariffs are shared between users, so rather than each having their own allowance of minutes and texts, they all share from a central pot on a first come, first served basis.
This helps to save money for the business because the tariffs work on a lead / share system where the line rental on the sharers is set at a standard price, which is usually around £12 - £15 per line.
Most networks also offer free calls to other mobiles on the same network, and free calls to landlines are also available (tariff dependant). Both of which help to reduce the monthly cost.
If your business is VAT registered, you can also claim the VAT back from the line rental which you can't do with consumer tariffs. All prices on the connectingbusiness.com website are exclusive of VAT.
Not all tariffs work the same way, but the principal is more or less the same. The network will offer an amount of shared minutes and texts, 1000 minutes for example. The lead handset normally takes the biggest line rental charge, and all the other mobiles or the "sharers" just attract the small share line rental. The number of sharers you can have is flexible depending on the tariff. More often than not, larger amounts of minutes allows more sharers in the group.
All the handsets use up the 1000 minutes and texts throughout the month as and when they like, and only if they all go over the minute allowance, will the network start charging for calls made, until the start of the next billing cycle at which point the minutes are re-allocated and it all starts again.
If the right tariff is chosen, it's actually quite rare that the minutes are exceeded.
All the networks also offer non-sharing tariffs incase you don't want to share your minutes, or if your business only has one or two employees it may not be financially effective to take a sharing tariff. The non-shared tariffs tend to start at a lower line rental for fewer minutes, so for one or two handsets it can work out cheaper but for any more than that, the sharing tariffs are probably the way to go.
